What is this about?
Data! The City and County of Honolulu has launched data.honolulu.gov and we want to show it off, and get some input!
The new site uses the Socrata data platform, used by data.gov and many cities and states.
The site includes:
- Data from mulitple departments.
- Explore dataset online, or download.
- Create custom charts and graphs.
- Embed charts, tables, etc in any webpage.
- SODA API for all datasets. Build custom apps using the API.
What will happen at the event?
Mick Thompson with Code for America, will talk about what data is available on the site, introduce the API and related resources, and be on hand to discuss possible uses of the data.
There will also be time to work on some code, talk about other datasets the city should focus on releasing, and discuss project ideas.
Who should attend?
If you're interested in development, data, or open government, you'll find this event is for you.
Will there be Cupcakes?
